Dora Canal Court Inc. is committed to making doracanalcourt.com usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. This is a small family business and we do this work ourselves, so if something on this site gets in your way, telling us is the fastest way to get it fixed.
What we aim for
We work toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. In practice that means text that contrasts sufficiently with its background, every control reachable and operable by keyboard, a visible focus indicator, meaningful alternative text on images, form fields with real labels, and headings that describe the structure of a page rather than just its appearance.
Where we fall short
We would rather name our gaps than claim we have none.
- Some third-party content — our guest reviews and social feeds — is embedded from outside services whose markup we do not control.
- Some older photographs may have incomplete alternative text.
- Decorative animations appear in a few places, and they are hidden from screen readers. One is interactive: tapping the “Dora Canal Court” title at the top of our homepage four times opens a full-screen seasonal animation, which closes with its close button or the Escape key.
Reduced motion
If “Reduce Motion” is switched on in your device’s accessibility settings, this site honours it and the moving elements do not move — you see a still version instead.
Telling us about a problem
Call (352) 978-3914, email contact@doracanalcourt.com, or use our contact form. Please tell us which page you were on and what happened, and we will reply.
If you cannot use this website to book, call us and we will take your booking over the phone. No guest should be unable to reserve a cottage because of our website.
Getting around the property
Seven of our eight cottages — 22, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 — are on the ground floor, with a stair-free, well-lit path from the parking area to the door. Cottage 23 is the only one upstairs, reached by a lit external staircase.
Each cottage has its own designated parking space close by. We have hosted guests who use wheelchairs.
Doorway widths, door thresholds and the surface of the path vary from cottage to cottage, and the dock, the sun deck and the clubhouse are a separate question again. Please call before you book and we will tell you honestly what any particular cottage is like. We would much rather have that conversation than have you arrive and find it does not work for you.
